JOB DESCRIPTION

Network & Systems Administrator operate and control IT infrastructure on premises and on the cloud.

Your new company
This government organisation is looking for a Network & Systems Administrator to join their team for min 3 months on a casual basis. This is a great opportunity to work with IT professionals and add government work experience to your profile.

Your new role
Your new position will see you supervise, lead and mentor a small team in providing high quality technology products and services to both internal and external customers and stakeholders. Based in Hobart, this role is for 3 months to start with the possibility of extension. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Create and maintain network plans, encompassing the communication of data, voice, text and image.
  • Plan all aspects of infrastructure necessary to ensure provision of network services to meet service agreements. Physical implementation may include copper wire, fibre-optic, wireless or any other technology.
  • Provide network maintenance and support services.
  • Operate and control the IT infrastructure on premises or provisioned as cloud services that is required to deliver and support the information systems needs of the business.
  • Apply infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
  • Monitoring of performance of systems and services in relation to their contribution to business performance, security and sustainability.


What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the role you will need to have demonstrated the following:

  • Degree in ICT or similar with significant experience working in an IT infrastructure support team
  • Proven experience managing and maintaining enterprise networks, LAN/WAN/Radio/WiFi together with Cisco Certified Network Associate qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing and maintaining data centre infrastructure.
  • Proven performance in managing and maintaining a VMWare virtualization environment running Microsoft Windows servers.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills including documentation and technical report writing skills.
  • Current Drivers Licence and Police Check
