Duties

As a senior member of the Economic and Financial Policy Division, you will operate under the broad guidance of the Director and Assistant Director. The Strategic Financial Analyst will be required, both individually and as a member of a team, to make a significant contribution to the strategic direction and management of the State’s interest in the Government-owned business sector by providing high level policy advice and analysis. The Strategic Financial Analyst may also undertake tasks across a range of branches in the Economic and Financial Policy Division and more broadly provide support across the Department.

In the context of the selection criteria, to be successful in the position applicants will have:

  • demonstrated ability to understand complex issues and identify possible solutions;
  • demonstrated strong analytical skills, including the analysis of financial and investment markets and proposals;
  • high level communication skills, including the ability to precisely and succinctly communicate to internal and external stakeholders;
  • demonstrated leadership skills and initiative, and be able to provide direction to assist in managing resources to deliver outcomes in accordance with the position objective; and
  • a flexible and adaptive approach to be able respond to changing priorities and work effectively across multiple work areas.

Highly Desirable Requirements

Completion or partial completion of relevant tertiary or industry qualifications, and/or professional affiliation.
