Division Responsibilities

The Benefits Integrity and Digital Health Division is responsible for:

Maintaining the affordability of Medical services in Australia by protecting the

Integrity of the Medicare payments system

Supporting healthcare providers

o With delivery of education and information on appropriate use of Medicare

o With digitally enabled programs to support clinical care and payment systems

Designing consumer/patient centred digitally enabled programs across Health and

with key government partners

Leading Health’s relationship with Services Australia to improve the delivery of

Health and Aged Care policy, program and compliance objectives of Government

Branch Responsibilities

The Provider Support and Systems Branch contributes to the department’s aims of

protecting the integrity of the Medicare system and ensuring communities have reasonable

access to PBS medicines by:

Supporting the Division through maintenance and enhancement of its ICT, data

analytics, reporting and operational systems and capabilities; undertaking decision

reviews and oversighting quality management

Supporting Medicare service providers by providing advice on the interpretation of

MBS items

Approving suppliers of Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) medicines and

supporting the Australian Community Pharmacy Authority

Ensuring that all available legislated powers are applied to the recovery of debts

raised as a result of incorrect Medicare claiming.

Section Responsibilities

The Compliance Systems Section is responsible for developing and maintaining the Benefits

Integrity and Digital Health Division’s business model, workflow processes, procedures and

systems. In undertaking these functions the section is responsible for:

assessing and implementing changes;

managing the division's change release cycles;

managing the strategic IT and data roadmap for the division;

providing support and training to all divisional staff;

developing new systems and tools to deliver compliance outcomes;

Undertaking assurance and data review activities.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Director is required to manage and lead a team to deliver a range of projects

and core business activities that support the Benefits Integrity and Digital Health Division to

enhance and improve its business systems, polices and processes.

The core responsibilities for this role are:

Manage staff to develop business requirements, system and process changes.

Manage and guide staff to complete impact assessments for proposed changes or

new initiatives.

Produce written reports and verbal presentations for staff and senior managers.

Undertake detailed project planning for major changes.

Oversee the management of governance frameworks.

Oversee and manage the division's system support desk for all business staff,

including staff training programs on the Division's key tools and systems

Manage external contracts with key vendors and other government departments

Lead the division's SharePoint development program.

Develop and lead staff with a coaching mindset.

Lead and create a positive workplace culture

Operate as a senior leader within the Compliance System Section Leadership team.

Key Capabilities

Ability to lead, mentor and manage staff in a fast past delivery environment.

Ability to provide strategic management and long term release forecasting, whilst

also managing the day to day activities of the team.

High level communication skills, with an ability to communicate in a concise manner

which is relevant to the audience.

Ability to establish and build strong working relationships with both internal and

external staff and stakeholders

Ability to manage a program of work including setting project timelines, managing
