Period of employment / Hours:

Fixed term full-time day work (part-time hours may be considered by negotiation) commencing ASAP and concluding 15 July 2022.

Internal Audit - South.


  • Prepare a three-year Strategic Audit Plan for annual approval by the Audit and Risk Committee, showing a forward program of Internal Audit activity. The Plan shall be based on a prioritisation of the Department’s business objectives, risks and assurance requirements.
  • Based on the first year of each approved Strategic Audit Plan, manage the annual program of work for Internal Audit, including developing risk based audit plans detailing the scope, nature and timing of audit activities. Ensure they remain current, relevant and are flexible to adapt to changing risk profiles and service delivery needs.
  • Maintain a quality assurance program to evaluate operations. The program incorporates independent peer review every five years (subject to resources), report and work paper review, quality certification for each audit undertaken, client feedback questionnaires and key performance indicators.
  • Develop the Internal Audit charter in line with international auditing standards.
  • Design and maintain internal audit operating procedures and work programs that incorporate quality assurance processes, performance reporting and which are in accordance with the professional standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors, practice statements of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Membership of a relevant professional organisation and/or relevant academic qualifications.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience managing auditing, business and accounting functions in a complex organisation.
