The Role

We are looking for a customer focused insurance professional to join our Hobart Workers Compensation claims team as a Claims Advisor.

You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of claims in line with Workers Compensation legislation, to ensure that our injured customers receive the relevant treatment and rehabilitation, and that their claims for compensation are processed as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you want to be part of a wider team which specialises in excellence in personal injury claims management, this could be the opportunity for you.

This busy and varied role will see you managing a portfolio of personal injury claims, considering liability, gathering and analysing medical and rehabilitation data, assessing the value of the claim, and considering options to support a positive claims outcome for key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Building strong relationships with all parties involved in the claims including claimants, employers, brokers and treatment providers.
  • Proactively managing claims using best practice strategic claims management
  • Obtaining and reviewing medical, financial and rehabilitation reports to assist in the accurate assessment of individual claims.
  • Manage workflow to ensure that all activities are completed within applicable legislative timeframes.
  • Management and negotiation of claims, including communication with claimants and solicitors, by phone, correspondence and/or attending settlement conferences and/or hearings
  • Proactively collaborate with internal support and external stakeholders to ensure proactive Case Management

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in Workers Compensation claims highly desirable
  • Clinical or Occupational Rehab experience highly desirable
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to listen, build rapport, communicate complex information and negotiate with a variety of stakeholders including claimants, third party providers, external bodies and internal teams
  • Strong administrative and written skills and the ability to effectively manage all aspects of each claim whilst keeping within the restraints of the legislation
  • Certificate 4 in personal injury or injury management coordination qualifications would be beneficial
