The opportunity

Don’t miss the opportunity to locum in a practice that really does value it’s doctors. Not only that, you’ll be surrounded by the magnificent natural beauty of the region and be welcomed by the community. You will be working between two practices, 3 days in Strahan, a solo GP practice and 2 days in Zeehan, a group practice with Monday to Friday sessions only and no weekend work required.

In addition to covering GP sessions you will also be on call after hours for the GP Assist tele-health service 4 nights each week (Monday to Thursday). After hours calls are rare and no call backs or face to face consultations required after hours – telephonic advice only. The clinic is closed on all public holidays and the locum will not be required to work when the clinic is closed.

The location

Situated in Macquarie Harbour, Strahan is the gateway to the World Heritage Wilderness Area of Tasmania. Filled with rich convict history and pristine rainforests off the Gordon River, it is the ideal place to experience a change of scenery. Enjoy picturesque boat cruises and flowing waterfalls in the local area. Just 30 minutes down the road nestled within a valley of Tasmania's rugged wilderness is Zeehan. Being one of the historic mining towns in the area, it has plenty of stories to tell. Visit the nearby spray tunnel, walk through the local museum or pop into the souvenir shop and check out some stunning minerals.

Essential criteria

To be successful in applying for this role you must hold FRACGP/FACRRM or VR Qualification, have a current Specialist registration with AHPRA, and full working rights in Australia.
