JOB DESCRIPTION

The Launceston General Hospital in northern Tasmania is seeking experienced Paediatrics Registered Nurses to join the newly redeveloped and expanded Paediatrics and Adolescent Inpatient Unit.

The Role:

The Registered Nurse:

  • Strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals.

The Unit:

The newly redeveloped Paediatric and Adolescent Inpatient Unit has views over the beautiful Ockerby Gardens. It provides a total of 34 inpatient beds comprising 20 single rooms, 4 two bedrooms and 1 four bedroom. The redevelopment of the Unit supports greater flexibility and comfort for staff and patients by providing an increase in single rooms along with opportunity for improved observation of patients by staff. Our unit provides age appropriate therapeutic and care spaces.

Our Unit will be complemented by a new, co-located Paediatric Outpatient Unit to be completed over the next 12 months.

Staff amenities have been developed to allow for a number of meeting spaces as well as a staff lounge. The dedicated meeting facilities for family meetings and multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings allows confidential information sharing in a professional setting.

You will be joining a team who are not only excited about the new facilities, but also focused on providing the best level of care to paediatric patients in the Launceston and greater northern area of Tasmania. Our unit values:

Details of Appointment:

Multiple Permanent, Full Time, Shift-Worker position working 76 hours per fortnight available.

Salary: $66,421 - $91,807 per annum + 9.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • Access to the Grade 4 salary range $85,950 - $91,807 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
  • Applicants should note that, for a period of six months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  • Conviction checks in the following areas:
  1. Crimes of violence
  2. sex related offences
  3. serious drug offences
