Our client is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist to join their team on an initial 6 month basis.

Your new company
Our client is a large state owned organisation, seeking a talented Community Engagement Specialist to join their large project team. Working on a project of state significance, you’ll work with communities and stakeholder groups across the nation to ensure the project success.

Your new role
The position facilitates community engagement with residents, businesses and key stakeholders. This position is required to implement and coordinate community engagement forums, activities and events.
Alongside a talented team, this position will support to implement strategies to enable and encourage relevant groups, and other interested and affected parties, to actively participate in dealing with specific issues, as well as the future strategic direction of the community.

Duties include:
Support and assist the management of engagement portals, managing website content and online engagement activities.
Present information to relevant groups, businesses, schools and other stakeholders in the local community to engage in feedback, in a coordinated way.
Facilitate community consultation to understand service levels and to deliver agreed assessments
of current and future standards and options, whilst ensuring all viewpoints are canvassed and acknowledged.
Representative at external forums, working groups, committees etc. as required.

What you'll need to succeed

Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations or equivalent
Demonstrated experience in community engagement
Demonstrated knowledge of traditional and emerging and community engagement approaches
Effective project management skills
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of an organisation, with key stakeholders and with members of the community.
Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of the unique engagement challenges that need to be
addressed when operating in a diverse community.
