Base salary of $155,681 - $217,953 pro rata per annum plus allowances and superannuation, commensurate with years of experience.

Specialist Medical Practitioner

Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement

Period of employment / Hours:
2 Vacancies
Fixed Term until 30 June 2023
15.2 hours per fortnight

CQRA - Department of Health - One position available in the North region and one position available in the North West region.

Work with the Director, Rural Pathways, and the Coordination Unit, in achieving the outcomes of the Tasmanian Rural Generalist Pathway (TRGP) Coordination Unit.

Provide case management of rural generalist trainees in the north/north west region.

Work with local stakeholders to continue and improve the TRGP.
Provide career and pastoral support for doctors on the TRGP.
Monitor and record individual trainee progress through the TRGP.
Promote the TRGP and rural generalist practice to medical students, junior doctors, general practitioners, hospital medical and administrative staff as well as the local community.
Liaise with local training providers, hospital medical staffing units, local general practices and other stakeholders to assist with term allocations and advocate on behalf of rural generalist trainees.
Facilitate and encourage networking, development, and career advancement opportunities for rural generalist trainees.
Represent the TRGP at local stakeholder meetings.

Desirable Requirements:
Current Driver’s Licence.
An experienced Rural Generalist with a Fellowship for the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) or Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice (FARGP) or equivalent.
Recent experience and knowledge of Health Services within Tasmania.

Essential Requirements:
Specialist or limited medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
a) crimes of violence
b) sex related offences
c) serious drug offences
d) crimes involving dishonesty
e) serious traffic offences
2. Identification check
3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
