Hours/Period of Appointment

Permanent, part time, shift work (fully rotational) working 64 hours per fortnight to commence as soon as possible. Notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Note: This selection process may be used to fill casual roles if applicable.


The Specialist Enrolled Nurse is an experienced Enrolled Nurse with an Advanced Diploma of Nursing post-graduate qualification in an identified specialty area of defined clinical practice.

The Specialist Enrolled Nurse:

  • Complies with the accepted scope and function of the Enrolled Nurse as described by the NMBA Standards for practice Enrolled Nurses providing patient/client centred nursing care within the scope of practice of an enrolled nurse and under the indirect or direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to achieve planned patient outcomes.
  • Assumes a greater level of delegated responsibility in the management of client/patient care which may include clinical and non-clinical activities, whilst remaining under the indirect or direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  • Utilises their specialist knowledge, skills and qualifications to act as a clinical resource to support the Registered Nurse in the provision of person centred care based on best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.

Essential Requirements

  • Has obtained an Advanced Diploma in Nursing in a relevant clinical specialty (ie post grad qualification).
  • Has four (4) year’s full time equivalent post registration experience plus two (2) years’ experience in the relevant clinical area.
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) Crimes of Violence
b) Sex Related Offences
c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty

2. Identification check

3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
