Period of Appointment

Appointment to the role is on a fixed term flexible (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) basis for five years. 


  • Ensure that consultancy and contract works are procured and managed to meet the project requirements including, but not limited to, project deliverables and outputs, time, quality and budget, with the most efficient use of predominantly external resources, in accordance with Tasmanian Government Project Management Guidelines and State Roads and project-specific governance arrangements, processes and procedures with responsibility for:
    • planning and scoping, in consultation with State Roads asset owners
    • risk management
    • isues management
    • resource management (including financial resources)
    • quality management
    • status reporting
    • contract review and evaluation and
    • contract closure.
  • Provide, to the Deputy Project Director, regular and accurate Project Status Report input and briefing papers detailing matters affecting the successful delivery of programs/projects, for presentation to the Executive Steering Committee and others.
  • Develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships and apply a strong customer and commercial focus to meet project needs.
  • Actively participate in the major procurement process for the project, in conjunction with the Deputy Project Director, Transaction Lead and other core project team members.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with service providers and members of the construction industry and provide input to industry briefings, the tendering process, contract award and tenderer debriefings as required.
  • Other duties as required, including but not limited to:
    • coordinate investigation of project issues and solution options in order to inform project requirements and approval processes
    • coordinate preparation of the Principal’s project requirements and specifications to achieve the required outcome from the project once constructed and
    • coordinate preparation of Project Proposal Reports to the Tasmanian and Australian Governments to secure approval for project funding.

Desirable Requirements

  • A current full car driver licence.
  • Post graduate qualifications and/or extensive experience in a relevant discipline such as; Project Management, Construction Management, Financial Management or Business Administration.
