Our Youth Engagement Program is for young people aged 12 to 18 years who are disengaged, or at risk of being disengaged from education.

As the Youth Worker you will be based at a local High School partner and work with youth networks and other community agencies to reach out to young people struggling with mainstream education.

You will provide individual case management support, including needs assessment, development of goal plans, referrals and monitoring of outcomes; develop and deliver programs and workshops that assist young people to re-engage in formal education and training and/or work; and work with youth service providers, local high schools and other relevant agencies.

About you:
You will have a minimum of Certificate IV level qualifications and be confident delivering group work. You will bring high energy and passion and will have proven ability to build rapport and motivate young people and will understand the barriers impacting young people’s engagement with learning. You will need to demonstrate:

  • innovation, creativity and flexibility in your approach
  • strong networking skills
  • high level communication skills, including group facilitation skills and the ability to deliver life skills programs
  • proven capacity to achieve effective outcomes for disadvantaged and at risk youth.
This position is based at Logan and Ipswich, however you will be required to work across South East Qld at various yourtown sites and external settings such as schools and community groups as required.
