Associate Professor of Accounting Job no: 495613 Work type: Full time Location: Hobart Categories: Academic - Teaching & Research Associate Professor of Accounting * Full time, ongoing position * Based in Hobart * Apply your academic leadership, research and teaching skills The Opportunity The University of Tasmania invites applications from experienced leaders to join the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance in the position of Associate Professor of Accounting to provide ongoing, high level leadership in positioning the accounting discipline. This leadership-based role will undertake the position of Discipline Leader of the Accounting area and will make a significant contribution to the development and fostering of research, learning, and teaching within the Discipline. Key Accountabilities: * Demonstrate leadership in assisting the University to achieve its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities. * Undertake high-quality research of international standing, secure external competitive and other funding, publish research findings and successfully supervise research higher degree students to completion, in order to meet and regularly exceed the Universitys research performance expectations for Level D. * Undertake scholarly undergraduate and postgraduate coursework teaching of an exemplary quality and provide leadership in key areas of learning and teaching in the discipline. * Provide academic leadership, particularly in building teams and fostering outstanding research and/or learning and teaching, and increasingly in supporting the career development of more junior staff. * Provide leadership in the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally, nationally and internationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community. Your Application To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate; * A PhD in the field of Accounting or a similar relevant field. * A substantial record in, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved international recognition and made innovative, and sustained contributions to the field of Accounting, demonstrated by a very strong record of high-quality publications, presentations at conferences and success in securing external competitive and other funding. * A substantial record of successful research higher degree student supervision and completions. * Extensive experience and demonstrated achievement in University-level teaching and learning including evidence of the application of contemporary, innovative and applied teaching practices. * Proven ability as an academic leader, with a strong focus on people, team building and creating effective working relationships, including capacity to foster excellence and proven experience in supporting and facilitating the career development of staff. * Proven ability to be agile in response to change, ability to make decisions and take responsibility for activities within the role. Remuneration Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level D and will have a total remuneration package of up to $180,838 comprising base salary within the range of $142,538 to $154,562 plus 17% superannuation.
