The Primary School Nursing Program is a free service offered by the Department of Education and Training to all children attending all Victorian primary schools and English Language Centres. A universal health assessment is offered to all prep school entrants via a questionnaire. Additionally students from other year levels where a parent, teacher or nurse has a concern are also eligible for the service.

The Inner Gippsland Primary School Nursing Program (PSNP) has an ongoing, part-time 0.2 EFT, Visiting Primary School Nurse position available. This is an exciting opportunity for suitably qualified and highly motivated team players to join a team of dynamic health professionals. This position is based at Corner Kirk & Haigh Streets, Moe, South East Region, 3825

Working as part of the School Nursing Team, the primary responsibility of this role is to offer a universal health screening service to children in their first year of primary school in Government, Catholic, Independent schools and English Language Centres. This includes responding to parent's concerns and observations collected through the School Entrant Health Questionnaire (SEHQ), conducting follow-up health and wellbeing assessments, providing advice to teachers and families and appropriate referral of issues to internal and external agencies. The Primary School Nurse also provides assessment and support for children in years one to six where a concern is identified.
