The Royal Hobart Hospital is opening extra operating theatres and is seeking Registered Nurses to support this expansion. Being Tasmania’s only tertiary referral hospital ensures a wide variety of case work. The service boasts new, state of the art equipment, including digitally integrated operating theatres with in-light cameras that allow real time streaming for teaching, research and specialist consultation.

The Unit
The Anaesthetic and Post Anaesthetic Recovery Unit (APARU) is part of the Perioperative Precinct with close working relationships with Theatre, Short Stay Suite, Surgical Access and the Department of Perioperative and Anaesthesia Medicine. The Unit offers the opportunity to work across both Anaesthetic and Recovery areas.
Duties
Anaesthetic:
- The Intraoperative care of acute surgical and emergency patients (adult and paediatric).
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and the associated care of the patient undergoing a procedure under GA, LA or regional Anaesthesia.
- Airway and emergency management
Recovery:
- The immediate post-operative care of acute surgical and emergency patients.
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and the associated care in the immediate post-operative phase.
- Airway and emergency management
- Understanding of acute and chronic pain and the associated pain control modalities.

Period of Employment
Permanent, full time and part time, shift work (fully rotational), working up to 76 hours per fortnight
Please note that there is also an on-call component to these roles
Hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Salary
$66,421 to $91,807 per annum
- Access to the Grade 4 salary range $85,950 - $91,807is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
