Your new company
Located in Hobart, our client is a State Government department. Having had an increase in demands of the department over the past 18 months, there is an opportunity for an experienced Internal Communications Manager to join their broad ranging team on a temporary basis.

Your new role
As an Internal Communications Manager, you will report into the department’s Director. This role will see you develop internal communication strategies, build and manage key stakeholder relationships, and identify opportunities for improved business communication with a focus on employee engagement and development of company culture.
Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Strategise, develop and implement short, medium and long term internal communications strategies that meet key organisational objectives in employee engagement
  • Ensure organisational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, regular magazine or email bulletin, including work on the layout of content
  • Recommend and contemporary channels to communicate with staff internally
  • Draft messages or scripts from senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form
  • Ensure internal communications messages are consistent and accessible across all mediums and for different departments
  • Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages through effective collaboration with the Marketing team
  • Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly
  • Assist in the handling of internal communication response to crisis situations

What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced Communications professional with previous experience that includes engagement centric communications for an internal audience. You will have a proven capability in developing and implementing the delivery of internal communication strategies, driving change and shifting the dial on company culture.
This role will require the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience developing, implementing and embedding contemporary communications practices
  • Prior experience managing complex projects and advising senior managers desirable
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Ability to deliver presentations at organizational events as required
  • Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills in order to work with all departments. Confidence to deal with senior executives and explain communication techniques
  • Creative ability to devise communication strategies
  • Familiarity with information technology, especially digital and video means of communication
