FOREST MANAGER (Permanent Full Time)

Expressions of interest are invited from candidates who are keen to join Britton Timbers team as a Forest Manager at our long established, privately owned timber company, located at Smithton in Tasmania. The role involves a broad range of duties relating to overseeing harvesting and reafforestation of company and other privately owned land, managing a plantation estate for the production of high quality logs and managing wood flow from that land. This position is permanent full time. Key Qualities: To be successful in this role, the successful applicant will. Be self-motivated with experience in both Native Forest and Plantation Management in Tasmania Have well-developed literacy, numeracy, communication, computer, and organisational skills Hold a current motor vehicle licence Be able to assess, plan, make recommendations and manage forest operations and plantation development consistent with company objectives while meeting all applicable codes and regulations Understand basic log grading and log presentation standards. Log classifiers qualification preferrred but not essential Have experience with Forest Practices Plan development and execution Be able to organise roading and fire protection for company owned land Have the ability to show initiative, work under minimum supervision and complete work in a timely manner and under pressure.
