Leadership role with J G Broun, a well respected Agricultural business based in beautiful Spreyton, Tasmania

Your new company

JG Broun is a 3rd generation family-owned and operated business in Spreyton, Tasmania specialising in quality seed potato development and processing. Servicing customers from across Tasmania, JG Broun prides itself in delivering a quality service in a timely, cost effective and professional manner. Due to an upcoming retirement, they are currently seeking an experienced leader to join the team as their new General Manager. After an initial probation period, J G Broun hopes to attract the right candidate on a long-term basis.

Your new role

This hands-on position will see you lead business operations and have responsibility for a wide range of areas including people management of permanent and seasonal staff, continual business improvement, customer account and stakeholder management, WHS, business analysis and reporting. You will ensure that the key seasonal aspects of the business, which are grading, cool and dry storage and cutting of seed potatoes, are managed successfully and to the requirements of key stakeholders. From solving issues on the floor with the team to identifying potential diversification and business improvement opportunities, this position offers the chance to be truly involved in the full scope of a successful business.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be a proven leader with management experience within the agricultural sector, great communication skills and ideally hold a qualification in agriculture or a relevant area. You will be multi-skilled with the ability to work extended hours during the Spring and Autumn busy periods and deal with the logistical and organisational challenges seasonal work brings. A practical problem solver, you will provide strong leadership to the team and work closely with key customers across the industry to maintain and build relationships. An Australian Certified Chemical Accreditation and an understanding of mechanical machinery will be highly regarded.
