Duties

The position is specifically targeted at applicants from three specified diversity groups, in line with our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy. The role is responsible for undertaking a range of financial management tasks relating to budgeting, financial and statistical reporting and accounting. In undertaking these tasks the incumbent will acquire important whole-of-Government and agency specific financial management and accounting skills.

In the context of the selection criteria, to be successful in the position applicants will have:

  • a degree that enables completion of postgraduate accounting studies (CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand) - this is an essential requirement. Further information on eligibility requirements can be found on the CPA Australia and Chartered Accounts Australia and New Zealand websites;
  • sound financial analysis and accounting skills, ability to understand complex operational issues and identify possible solutions with good judgement, and ability to understand the broader operating environment and its implications for the tasks being undertaken; and
  • the ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders and prepare accurate documentation.

Essential Requirements

  • A degree that enables the applicant to complete Australia’s Certified Practising Accountant program or the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand postgraduate program. You must have graduated with a minimum of a three-year undergraduate degree (certificates, diplomas or other non-tertiary courses of study are insufficient).
  • Applicants must meet one or more of the following diversity criteria:
    • be a person with a disability;
    • be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and/or
    • be a person with a culturally and linguistically diverse background.
  • Be either
    • an Australian citizen;
    • a permanent resident of Australia;
    • a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand passport; or
