The Department’s Information Coordination and Strategy Unit is currently seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with a passion for information and data projects to join our team.

About the role:

The Business Consultant role understands the complexity of the information management landscape and is able to relate information obligations and practices to the needs of the business, articulating requirements in language stakeholders understand, and negotiating mutually beneficial project outcomes.

Reporting to the Manager of the Data and Information Strategy team within the Information Coordination and Strategy Unit, and partnering with the wider IMTS branch, business and community stakeholders, this role is primarily responsible for planning and managing key projects and programs of work that will support continual improvements both to information management practice, and customer and client experience outcomes.

The successful applicant will be required to have a strong work ethic including taking ownership, providing leadership and demonstrating a high level of productivity. They will work with a significant degree of autonomy as a key member of the Unit's multidisciplinary team.

About you: 

You will be an enthusiastic and adaptable individual who is well-organised, and who can demonstrate experience in similar roles working in a demanding environment. You will possess a proven capacity to manage competing priorities, deliver successful outcomes and maintain a client centric approach.

You will:

  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and experience in the end to end delivery of information projects
  • Understand and effectively communicate concepts of privacy, protection of personal information, and the information lifecycle
  • Have or be able to quickly acquire a sound knowledge of Tasmanian Government and Health sector information policy, frameworks and standards.
  • Possess the ability to troubleshoot information problems through an understanding of information risk, providing superior customer support and quality improvement services
  • Exercise a significant level of responsibility, decision making, and judgement in providing expert advice and resolving complex issues with contemporary industry knowledge, ensuring improvement opportunities are maximised.
  • Maintain the ability to work under pressure while staying calm and motivated in a constantly changing environment


$95,033 to $107,840 pro rata, per annum.

Fixed term full-time day work (part-time hours may be considered by negotiation) commencing ASAP until 22 September 2023.
