Wanted: Role Models. On a daily basis, young people are faced with decisions that will impact their future. We need you to encourage them to take the steps to become the best they can be. You will support the safety, wellbeing, resilience and development of at-risk children and young people whose families are engaged with the Intensive Family Engagement service. Where you come in: In these casual positions you will work alongside our Intensive Family Support Worker to model positive interactions with young children who are at risk of intervention by Child Safety Services. You will support the safety, wellbeing, resilience and development of at-risk youth whose families are engaged with the Intensive Family Engagement service. You will be based in Devonport and work across North-West Tasmania in family's homes, reporting to our Intensive Family Engagement Service Programs Team Leader. You will make an impact by:

  • Building lasting relationships with young people from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Supporting young people to reach their full potential and build extensive support networks and connection to community
  • Building and maintaining strong networks, service delivery partnerships, and effective referral pathways

Your understanding and remarkable communication skills make you the ideal representative of Save the Children and see you nurture engagement from young people, their families and the wider community. You consider yourself a team player, have a 'can-do' attitude and demonstrate an infectious enthusiasm for your job. This role requires:
  • A minimum of a Certificate IV in Youth Work (or a related field), or progress towards
  • Ability to work with children and young people, often with complex needs, in a safe and respectful way
  • Strong time management, organisational and record keeping skills
  • Knowledge of the issues facing young people in the community, including trauma, neglect and abuse
