Working outreach with families to overcome barriers to children's safety and build a nurturing home environment for their children. Save the Children is no ordinary not-for-profit. Where you come in: In these casual positions you will work alongside our Intensive Family Support Worker to model positive interactions with babies and young children who are at risk of intervention by Child Safety Services. You will support the safety, wellbeing, resilience and development of at-risk children whose families are engaged with the Intensive Family Engagement service. You will be based in Devonport and work across North-West Tasmanian in family's homes, reporting to our Intensive Family Engagement Service Programs Team Leader. You will make an impact by:

  • Visiting families in their homes and supporting the Intensive Family Support Worker to support families with complex high needs
  • Modelling positive and nurturing interactions with highly vulnerable young children
  • Identifying and addressing developmental, physical, social/emotional and educational needs

You consider yourself a team player, have a 'can-do' attitude and demonstrate an infectious enthusiasm for your job. This role requires:
  • A minimum of a Diploma in Early Childhood (or a related field), or progress towards
  • Ability to work with children, often with complex needs, in a safe and respectful way
  • Strong time management, organisational and record keeping skills
  • Understanding of issues around trauma, abuse and neglect
